Daily Email - Friday - 10/2/2026

My birthday weekend is here and, in true Libra fashion, I’ve planned the hell out of it. Harpoon Oktoberfest, Scot-toberfest and ACKtoberfest are all on the agenda (I like beer, okay), with some cute dinners and tributes to Mean Girls. October 3rd was my birthday before it was Mean Girls Day, but whatever, I’m getting cheese fries.

I started celebrating early this week so you get a birthday present, too. Switchfoot is playing House of Blues on Sunday and we’ve got your name on the guest list. Enter to win tickets.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • Here’s something you probably haven’t done: watched Jaws and Deep Blue Sea aboard a reportedly haunted Navy cruiser. Catch the double feature on the USS Salem’s stern October 11th.

  • Pick a loop and get rolling. Franklin Park is hosting a free bike ride later this month with your choice of course, plus fitness classes, a bike repair clinic, DJs, food and more waiting at the finish.

  • Taste of Allston is back (and now an hour longer) on October 17th. A beer garden, entertainment and local bites are on tap for the annual free food fest.

  • Teton Gravity Research turns the mountain into a laboratory in Actually, It Is Rocket Science. Watch the world’s best skiers test gravity on November 15th. Win tickets and decide for yourself if it’s actually rocket science.*

  • Find even more just-announced Boston shows to add to your calendar!

MAKING ROOM AT THE TABLE FOR WOMEN IN BOSTON

Photo: Anuradha Yadav

Anuradha Yadav saw who was getting overlooked in Boston’s startup world and got to work. As the co-founder and Executive Director of Women of Color Entrepreneurs, she connects women with mentorship, community and resources. She’s done asking who gets a seat at the table; she’s simply making the table bigger.
