You know a book's good when 800+ pages somehow feels too short. I just finished The Calamity Club and I'm already in mourning that it’s over. Go read it, then report back with your favorite character so we can discuss at length.

Rather than dwell on the fact that it's over, I'm distracting myself with future plans. Or rather, your future plans. Myles Smith is headed to Seaport in August. Win tickets for a night of Stargazing.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • Ready for Boston's chicest secret? Le Dîner en Blanc returns July 25th for its annual all-white soirée where guests gather at a surprise location revealed moments before the festivities begin.

  • Few artists blend jazz, R&B and Afro-Caribbean sounds quite like Masego. Catch the multi-instrumentalist at Citizens House of Blues on August 26th.

  • If your formative years involved Tumblr or Discord, Glaive gets it. The hyperpop star hits Paradise Rock Club on September 30th and you can win your way in.

  • Underoath is taking it back to 2006. Hear Define the Great Line played in full when they come to MGM Music Hall on November 29th.

  • Find even more just-announced Boston shows to add to your calendar!

WIN TIX TO BOSTON’S SPICIEST PLANS

There's a reason Boston JerkFest keeps winning awards. Named Boston's Best Food Festival by Boston Magazine, a Top 10 Summer Food Festival by Zagat and Boston's top Caribbean event by Jamaicans.com, this three-day celebration returns to Harvard Athletic Complex July 10th-12th. This year's Femme Tropikal theme celebrates the women shaping Caribbean culture and you could be there for free. Win 3-day VIP tix!*

LOCALS ONLY

  • Every Tuesday should be a Tasting Tuesday. Head to Cisco tonight for a guided spirit tasting, complimentary cocktails and a $10 bottle shop gift card to spend on your favorite pour.

  • Get sketchy tonight at The Superette, where local artists lead drawing exercises set to live music. It's free and supplies are provided, so what have you got to lose?

  • Just in time for the heat wave: beach closures. Those in Ipswich, Newburyport and Salisbury remain closed after a sewer line break spilled millions of gallons of wastewater into the Merrimack River.
